I love these WordPress writing prompts. I was recently searching Google for an intellectual thought provoking topic:
Why do cats have whiskers on the back of their front legs??😂 😂
I have a cat named Junior Mint (see his ferocious photo below 👇) and recently noticed he has whiskers on the back on his two front legs. I tried to touch those whiskers, and Junior Mint gave me a “don’t do it hooman” swipe with his kitty claws. Luckily I was able to dodge his ferocious kitty paw due to fast reflexes I developed from dodging punches from patients or items patients have thrown at me during my 20 plus year nursing career (yes for real).

After typing into Google, “whiskers on the back of cat’s legs”, the first result that appeared was from the Delvan Lakes Veterinary Clinic. The clinic’s site states the whiskers on the back of cats’ legs are called carpal whiskers. These whiskers help cats climb trees and also help cats determine if prey they catch with their paws are moving and still alive.
My question was answered! Thanks Delvan Lakes Veterinary Clinic!
Unfortunately for Junior Mint, he does not use his carpal whiskers for any hunting or climbing. His main activities are sleeping –> eating –> kitty litter box –> repeat sequence with “sleeping”. The only time he deviates from his routine is running around like a maniac at 2AM.
