After a 2 year hiatus from blogging, I’m back! I know all of you are celebrating and cheering lol 😅
I’ve been teaching LPN students for the past 2 years and have enjoyed every minute! Watching students transform from nursing students into nurses has been amazing! One of the things I decided to do for the my class (medical-surgical 2) was to incorporate NCLEX test taking strategies. I have been amazed to see a 90-100% NCLEX pass rate for my former students who took the NCLEX-PN (with 95% passing on the first try).
One strategy I employ to help nursing students learn about different med-surg topics is to teach them common signs/symptoms of a disorder as a building block. One of the disorders I teach are the various types of shock (cardiogenic, obstructive, septic, anaphylactic, neurogenic). To teach all the various shocks, I first teach students the 4 common signs/symptoms of all the shocks and then go into how the various shocks differ in presentation.
Here’s a video I created discussing the common signs/symptoms of shock and why the symptoms occur. Thank you for watching and please check back soon for more content! (I promise not to wait another 2 years 😉)
